{"id":1385,"date":"2025-04-25T14:34:08","date_gmt":"2025-04-25T14:34:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.liberiasp.gov.lr\/?p=1385"},"modified":"2025-04-25T14:34:08","modified_gmt":"2025-04-25T14:34:08","slug":"additional-240-communities-benefit-from-realise-communal-farming-support","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.liberiasp.gov.lr\/?p=1385","title":{"rendered":"Additional 240 Communities benefit from REALISE Communal Farming Support"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">240 Communities Benefit from Round Two of REALISE Project\u2019s Community Livelihood and Agriculture Support Component<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the second round of implementation of the <em>Community Livelihood and Agriculture Support<\/em>&nbsp;(CLAS) component of the <em>Recovery of Economic Activity for Liberian Informal Sector Employment<\/em>&nbsp;(REALISE) Project, 240 communities are now benefiting from community development and communal farming support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In each of the 240 communities, 28 selected individuals will receive tools, seed grants, and a $350 labor subsidy for the duration of the subproject.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additionally, the project will provide each community with a development grant to implement a project of their choice, aimed at addressing a shared need and promoting the greater good of the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While addressing project beneficiaries in Gbarpolu County recently, Component Manager Anita Marshall emphasized the program\u2019s goal, stating, <em>\u201cThis project is designed for your benefit. It is intended to improve your standard of living through your own labor, supported by the REALISE project.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She further encouraged community members, saying, <em>\u201cAs beneficiaries, you hold the responsibility to lift yourselves out of poverty. Our role is to provide the necessary support and resources to help you succeed.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>About the CLAS Component<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <em>Community Livelihood and Agriculture Support<\/em>&nbsp;(CLAS) component is a key element of the REALISE Project. It focuses on enhancing food security and building climate resilience among vulnerable rural populations in Liberia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Objectives and Activities<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CLAS targets 16,200 beneficiaries across eight counties: Bomi, Bong, Gbarpolu, Grand Cape Mount, Grand Gedeh, Lofa, Nimba, and Sinoe. Key activities include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Climate-Smart Agriculture Training: Equips beneficiaries with sustainable farming practices to adapt to climate change.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Life Skills and Business Management Training: Builds the capacity of beneficiaries to manage agricultural activities and run small businesses effectively.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Technical Assistance: Provides support to extension officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) at both county and district levels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Implementation and Impact<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The CLAS component is being implemented in phases.
